Cinque paesi in collina

Five villages in the hills is a summer project that chronicles one of the realities present in Romana, a small village in the union of Villanova municipalities in Sardinia, in the province of Sassari. The photographic survey aims to explore the leisure and entertainment spaces of the village, places where new and old generations interact and collaborate to give back to those who live there playful and relaxing moments totally detached from work and school life. These seemingly immobile and little-used territories become scenes of daily life in which the signs of time alternate with colors, sounds and living flavors. Games and objects adorn the interior spaces, setting up walls of memories and old possessions, acting as a wrapping for new realities, equally worthy of being told.
The young people of Romana were my guides inside the village, unknown to me until then. Through their eyes and knowledge I was able to explore a micro-world that moves delicately between the village and the nearby countryside.
Five Villages in the Hills curated by Salvatore Ligios is a project commissioned by Su Palatu photography to five different photographers who were assigned five municipalities in the Villanova union in Sardinia.
